Barrington PTO

The school hive is buzzing! The Barrington PTO is proud to host our annual Barrington Elementary School Scripps Spelling Bees on January 11th and January 18th in our gym! This opportunity is available to all 1st – 5th graders. 

Dates:

• 1st – 2rd Grade Spelling Bee: January 11th, 2024 at 3:15p. The top spellers from this round will be invited back to participate on January 18th.
• 3rd-5th Grade Spelling Bee (and 1st-2nd grade finalists): January 18th, 2024 at 3:15p

While observing the official rules and regulations of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, our school employs a student-friendly format to remove as much intimidation as possible. The official Scripps prep materials for school spelling bees are linked below for those wishing to get a jump start on preparing. The ‘Full List’ begins with first grade words and gets progressively more difficult as it continues to eighth grade words. This is a great list for students to start their prep as some words for the school level bee will come directly from this list. I’ve also included grade level word lists if this is more your speed for practice. Study as much as your child is comfortable with and don’t stress! This should be a fun learning opportunity.

Parents and families are invited and encouraged to attend this event to support the students if they are available. We will open the gym doors at 3pm after all students have been released. Our school winner will have an opportunity to qualify to advance within the Scripps regional, state, and national level.
